The Chadds Ford Township Tick Reduction Program

Dr. Jesson is the Tick Reduction Task Force Leader for Chadds Ford Township. Evaluation of the scientific literature began in (2007). Recommended Program, with Justification and proposed Implementation were transmitted both as a Report and a Presentation to the Board of Supervisors (January 2010). Program. Approval of a modified program was given in July 2010 and a letter was sent to the all residents in August describing the situation.

A number of Task Forces have been established and we have acquired the services of Tim Smail, noted wild life conservationist, as our Deer Control Manager.

The talk will describe all aspects of this time line including approaches considered, justification of approaches chosen, program implementation and procedures to deliver quality deer meat to the needy in our area.

 

About Peter Jesson, Ph.D.

Peter Jesson DPhil (Oxon), 1960, is a Chemical-Physicist by training. He was a Lecturer in Chemistry in at St John’s College, Oxford, 1961, and a Post Doctoral Fellow at the National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, Canada, 1962-63. From 1963-1992 he worked for the DuPont Company becoming the Director of Physical Sciences in the Central Research Department and the Director of Jackson Laboratory in the Chemicals Department.

While at Du Pont he published 120 papers in major scientific journals and lectured at most of the leading English speaking universities. In addition to his main research responsibilities, he directed research within DuPont on the Freon-Ozone problem and was the scientific spokesman worldwide appearing on the Today Show, testifying in the US Senate, before the FDA and before the National Academy of Sciences. He gave press conference and lectures on the issue worldwide. At Jackson Laboratory he managed facilities for 450 professionals (over 1,000 total employees) including research, engineering, and pilot plant functions with an annual budget of over $150MM. In April 1992, DuPont granted Dr. Jesson a license to their Advanced Dielectric Powders Technology. He formed a company (MolAD Corporation) which he sold the to the Degussa Corporation in December 1992.
